Vanderbilt Lambda thinks they can drag . . . and they do

Jujubee headlines 19th annual event

The Vanderbilt Lambda Association turned it out with their 19th annual Drag Show last night. Nearly 400 students and community members turned out for this year's theme, So You Think You Can Drag?, which showcased community and student talent as well as two performances from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 2 fave, Jujubee.

Local performers included O&ANs own Nashville Untucked personality Paige Turner who worked it out with her VMA-inspired Madonna "Vogue" (see below) as well as other electrifying performances, including a heavenly (complete with wings) performance of a Madonna/Bruno Mars mashup by Nece Sexton who wowed the crowd with backflips. Other performers included Mistress of Mayhem, Venus Ann Serena who dizzyingly whipped her hair in a Rihanna mashup (and it wasn't even her birthday). See photo gallery above.

The evening's most surprising performance came from student Ames Sanders. Sanders' performance was choreographed exquisitely replete with underlying metaphors of suppression, angst and freedom. Even more impressive? The handmade cape that Sanders used during their performance.

Of course, Jujubee was a doll. Her performances brought the 400+ crowd to their feet and kept them sticking around afterwards for a meet and greet with the drag star.
