If you happen to find yourself downtown today (Tuesday June 6) around 5:30pm, then head on over to 221 Second Avenue North.
Instagram — yes, that Instagram — has selected Nashville as one of just three cities in America, and the only one in the South, to erect a massive rainbow wall in celebration of LGBT Pride. For a sneak peek at what the wall looks like in other cities, check out the #kindcomments hashtag on Instagram.
According to organizers, the rainbow wall will provide greater visibility to LGBT Pride month. Particularly for the unveiling this afternoon, as well as thereafter, they encourage in-person visitors and the Instagram community at large to take a photo/video, share a kind comment, and show support for the LGBTQ community. Don't forget the hashtag.
Local artist Adrien Saporiti, creator of the iconic "I Believe in Nashville" mural, has been commissioned to create the rainbow mural. This wall is part of Instagram's global initiative to turn walls in cities around the world into colorful beacons of support for the LGBTQ community. Murals by artists in the Instagram community have also appeared in Los Angeles and Cleveland, and will debut in London and Madrid.
Organizers note, too, that anyone can join the #KindComments movement on Instagram and make someone's day by leaving a supportive comment on their post.
